Morgan Crusader's Bible
The Morgan Crusader's Bible, created between 1244 and 1254 in Paris, originally had no words. It contains pictures from Creation through the reign of King David painted as if they occurred in the thirteenth century—complete with fabulous pictures of medieval knights, horses, banners, and artillery.
You can see all the pages at this Morgan Library and Museum site, and by zooming in, you can examine the fascinating pictures in great detail. |
